What is an Acne?

Acne is a skin condition in which the skin becomes inflamed and red bumps occur on the parts such as the face, chest, back, and so on. It occurs when your hair follicles because plugged with oil and sebum. It also forms whiteheads, blackheads, blemishes, and dark spots.

Types of acne and blemishes

Before seeking any remedy first you have to categorize the type of acne you suffer from. There are different types of acne.

1. Cystic Acne: Cystic acne is the most visible and severe type of acne. It is the large pus-filled, red, and painful bumps that occur on the surface of your skin. It is larger than any other type of acne. The main cause of this type of acne is clogged pores i.e. not cleaning the pores deeply which further leads to more sebum productions.

2. Pustules: Pustules are the small pus-filled blisters or bumps that occur on the skin. It is a small collection of pus in the top layer of skin (epidermis) or beneath the dermis.

3. Nodules: A nodule is a small bump or swelling on the skin forming a small round shape. It also somewhat looks like a rash. It is a painful bump beneath or under your skin that doesn’t technically have a head like a regular pimple. The skin around the nodule also gets inflamed and red.

4. Popules: Popule is a very small type of acne on the surface of your skin. It is a tiny bump with no visible pus. It occurs due to excess production of oil, sebum, and dead skin cells that clogged your pores.

5. Whiteheads: It is the very tiny white zits on the surface of the skin especially the nose and the area around your nose and also on your chin. It is caused by the oil and dirt stucks on the pores.

6. Blackheads: Blackheads are the small black dots on your nose area around your chin and so on. Blackheads form when the oil, dirt, and dead cells are not exfoliated from the pores and get stuck in them.

What are blemishes?

Any kind of acne, mark, age spots, melasma, ingrown hair, blackheads, whiteheads, tiny zits can be considered as blemishes.

Causes of Acne & Blemishes

1. Poor diet: One of the main causes of acne and blemishes is a poor and unbalanced diet. As your skin portraits the condition of your inner health, so whatever you put in your system shows its effect on the outside is it either good or bad.

          Consuming an oily, spicy, and unhealthy diet causes your skin to break out. Food with refined sugar and dairy also leads to acne and breakouts.

2. Stress: Taking too much stress has a lot of harmful effects on your body and acne is also one of them. When you are stressed your body releases the hormone cortisol, which leads to more oil secretion which thereby produces sebum and ultimately acne.

3. Hormonal imbalance: The acne caused by the imbalance of hormones is an individual is known as hormonal acne. It is a result of improper levels of hormones production. It happens when your body produces more testosterone and androgens.

4. Wrong skin-care products: Choosing the correct skincare products is very important in maintaining healthy and spotless skin. Using the wrong cleaner is very important to prevent breakouts and also using a lot of different types of products of different brands can also aggravate skin that will lead to acne.

5. Lack of proper hygiene: Lack of proper hygiene can also allow bacteria and germs to cause acne and blemishes. Habits such as not cleaning your face properly twice daily, touching your face with dirty hands, and so on can be the major reason behind your acne.

6. Inadequate sleep: Sleep is another and yet the most important element for maintaining healthy skin and keeping acne at a bay. 8 hours of sound sleep is very important for your skin, no matter how much you take care of your skin, how many products you use but if you don’t get 6-8 hours of sleep then everything is just a waste.

7. Touching your face too much: If you are someone who constantly keeps touching your face then you are likely to get acne and blemishes. Your hands contain a lot of bacteria and acne-causing germs. Home Remedies Treatment

1. Cinnamon and honey: Cinnamin works great when it comes to reducing skin inflammation and honey helps in moisturizing as well as cleansing the skin. Together this can make a huge difference in your acne and blemishes.

2. Black pepper powder: Black pepper is highly rich in antioxidant properties. It helps in en-clogging pores, clearing blackheads and whiteheads, and also clears breakouts. Just mix 1 teaspoon of black pepper powder with either yogurt, honey, milk, or water. Remove in a circular motion after 15 minutes, this will also help you in improving blood circulation and importing a healthy glow.

3. Beauty ice-cubes (flavored): Ice cubes help a lot in compressing the size of a breakout and closing the pores as well. So, ice-cubes made with juices instead of water make it even more magical. Ice- cubes made with rose water, aloe vera gel, tomato juice, potato juice will do wonders in clearing up your skin. Just take out the juice of anything mentioned here and freeze it in the refrigerator. gently rub the ice – cubes on the cleansed face once a day.

4. Potato juice and gram flour (Besan): Take out some potato juice, mix half a teaspoon of besan and apply it after cleansing your face once or twice a week.

5. Double cleansing/oil cleansing: Healthy skin starts with a freshly cleansed face and washing your face with the only facewash is something just not enough. Oil cleansing cleans your skin from deep within and breaks down any makeup, dirt, dead skin, and excess oil present in your skin and makes your skin plumed, smooth hydrated, and acne-free.

6. Orange face mask: Take 1 teaspoon of orange peel powder, 2 pinches of wild turmeric, 1 teaspoon of yogurt or fresh cream or honey or raw milk, mix it, and apply on cleansed face and neck. This face mask not only clears your acne but also fades the dark spots caused by the breakouts and also brightens skin complexion.

Tips to prevent Acne and Blemishes Forever ( Do's and Don't)

1. Always keep your hands off your face: Do not touch your face often without washing your hands.

2. Always follow the rule Hands before face: Remember you should always wash your hands with soap before washing your face. Never wash your face without cleaning your hands thoughrolly.

3. Use a face towel: Never use the same towel for your face and body. Do not use your body towel to wipe your face. Use two separate towels for the face and body.

4. Use headphones: Our phone screen carries lots of bacteria and germs which can transfer on your skin while you attend phone call without using a headphone. So, always use headphones while talking to someone.

5. Keep your pillow covers clean: Change your pillow cover regularly every two days at least and use soft cotton or silk pillow covers.

6. Sleep on your back: Sleeping on your back can help you a lot in preventing breakouts and even if you sleep on your sides try to avoid rubbing your skin on your pillow.

7. Stay hydrated: Keep your body totally hydrated. Drink a lot of water and consumes lots of fruits and vegetables.

8. Avoid sugar and dairy: Cut off refined sugar and dairy products from your diet. It will prevent your future breakouts.

9. Avoid Junk food: Avoid junk processed food, junk food, oily, and fried items.

10. Eat greens: Consume green leafy vegetables as much as possible. Includes lettuce, broccoli, spinach, bitter ground, and so on.
